County attorney says it is not county business to discuss county roads with the GDOT

The county attorney says it is not county business to discuss county roads with the GDOT representative coming August 1st

Rep. Susan Holmes has urged the BOC to come to a lunch meeting with the new DOT rep for our district on August 1st.  When questioned about posting this meeting, the county attorney says it doesn’t have to be posted, and it is really not a “meeting” at 1:40 on the video.   Mrs. Holmes said they need to attend to let DOT know of our road issues and our road needs.  When questioned if this is not county business, county attorney Jim Alexander says he thinks it is not.

Listen to entire conversation here:

Comm. Pennamon and Comm. Trammell say they are going to the meeting.  The County Manager asks if they discuss roads isn’t this county business, but Comm. Pennamon says they will do what attorney says and not post this meeting because he will have to defend them if there are problems.

Don’t all laugh at once now.  It is obvious this is county business and the County Manager knows it is, but the BOC acts like nothing should be discussed in front of the citizens, and they depend on the county attorney to say whatever is necessary so they can continue doing most all of their business via executive session, emails and special meetings at the courthouse between 2 commissioners at a time.

  1. Gay Morrison says:

Kinda appears that he already runs the county instead of the elected group we put in charge of it. Either way, appears we are in trouble.

  2. Emmy says:

If we let the county atty run the county, we can get rid of the commissioners and save a lot of money.
