As outlined in our last blog, “Is Jasper County’s Sales Tax Revenue in Jeopardy?”, the BOC’s agreement with the Cities of Shady Dale and Monticello concerning the Local Option Sales Tax collections may be in jeopardy after the Georgia Supreme Court ruling that the way the negotiations were done was unconstitutional.
The BOC has called a special called meeting for tomorrow night (10/14/13) at 6:00PM to discuss L.O.S.T.
At present the LOST is split with 67% going to the County, 30% going to Monticello, and 3% going to Shady Dale. 2% of the County’s share and 2% of the City’s share will go to the library by a special intergovernmental agreement.
