Thomas Edison turned 167 yesterday. You probably know him as the great American inventor responsible for the lightbulb, the telegraph, and the phonograph – but did you know that Edison was also a local watchdog reporter?

Though never a journalist by trade, Edison produced his own local journal dedicated to dispersing information that the major newspapers couldn’t cover.
