YOU COULD BE NEXT—ANOTHER WRECK AT BETHEL CHURCH RD AND HWY 212 W LAST NIGHT

February 6, 2015

Car WreckYou may be next! Last night approximately 10:30PM, there was another wreck at the intersection of Bethel Church Rd. and Hwy 212 W.

Even though comments on our blog about the last wreck here (January 31) seem to indicate that people don’t think a 4-way stop is necessary to prevent these serious, continuous wrecks, statistics show a 4-way stop here could keep you, your friends and family, children on their way to school, and anyone else passing through from being injured or killed at this intersection. There are 4-way stops all along Hwy 212 W from Jackson Lake Rd. up to Conyers.

At the very least, lines across the road, bigger stop signs, red reflectors down the sign post, and flashing lights are needed at this intersection.

Be very careful at this intersection! YOU could be next!

If they put up a 4 way, who says anyone will stop an not just run it an still have crash’s there,

  2. Linda Miller says:

We saw a wreck at this intersection on Friday, February 6th at 7:53pm on our way home from monticello so this one must of been after that…this is beyond belief anymore, are people not paying attention or what???

I travel through that intersection twice a day at minimum, except most Sunday’s. I think folks are in to big a hurry. The traffic on Hwy 212 is traveling at a high speed. Think about how far they have driven since their last stop sign. When you are sitting at that stop sign and you see a car coming you need to wait. That high speed will be on you quicker than you at a dead stop can cross that intersection. Your life and the life of others are worth that extra few seconds. If you are running a little late, another minute is not that big of a deal. If it is, try leaving earlier.

I’m supportive to making it a four way stop. I’m supportive for bigger signage and lights if necessary. Lowering the speed limit on Bethal was a waste of time and money and not the cause of the problem. They should have used that money to actually address the problem. Not act like they are.
