June 7, 2015

The SWC has two jobs. One is to determine what to do to abide by the EPD consent order by June 30, 2015 and the other is to look at the cost of the landfill operations.

There were several discussions at the last meeting they held on 5/28/15. Mr. McCowan and Ms. Whitlow were unable to attend this meeting.

The SWC has been diligent in their request for information, including financials and documents. They just aren’t sure that the information they are getting is correct or complete.

County management estimated size of fiber pile and discussion

Energy conversion report

There was a letter from the County Manager to EPD that preceded the most recent consent order. It says Harbin Engineering gave the county a report that fiber could be generated into electricity to serve the Jail, Recreation, Sr. Center, Animal Control and ball fields, saving $60,000 per year, plus selling excess energy back to the grid. Committee members seemed skeptical.

SWC wants County mgr to explain landfill loses.

SWC Committee was confused and frustrated by the numbers that were provided; they want the County Manager to come and explain and help them understand.

A huge thank you to Mr. Charles Forsythe for his time in not only attending and filming this, but putting it up for all of us to see.

Citizens, be informed and stay informed! Only by being informed can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County. That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.

  1. Charles Maddox says:

You may want to request the monthly CGEMC bills for all these accounts. Seems high to me.

Another thing to consider the rewiring cost to use your own generated electricity( Power lines, transformers ect and future operation and maintenance cost). You won’t be able to pick the phone up and say my power is out.

  2. Cheryl. Nowetner says:

Can’t wait to see either the constant double talk that Karen is so famous for or the new excuse she has for not being at that meeting. Maybe she has finally met her match in people who can’t be. B.S.’s by all her double talk and made up numbers
