NO LANDFILL/SWC REPORT TO BOC ON JUNE 25, 2015

June 24, 2015

Cancelled2The BOC has made the decision to not hear the Solid Waste Committee report/presentation on the landfill tomorrow night, June 25th. This presentation will be made on July 6 at the regular BOC meeting at 6:00PM.

The mission statement for the Jasper County SWC reads, “Said plan stipulates that a formal plan be presented on or before June 30, 2015.”  Despite attempts by the SWC to do so, the BOC has refused to set a date before July 6, 2015.

Please plan to attend the meeting on July 6th. There will be both a public hearing for the FY16- largest ever- county budget and the presentation from the SWC. Mark your calendar.

  1. No faith in our leaders says:

One has to wonder why there is no longer a rush to get a report to the EPD. The committee worked hard and got more accomplished in 5 weeks than the county manager and the commissioners did in 2 years. Thank you committee members for your diligent work on this project.

Could it be that the county manager is making up some cockamamie report that gets sent to EPD to assuage them?

Or it could be that the commissioners are going forward with what they had intended all along and only agreed to establish a solid waste committee and rescind the solid waste authority because of public pressure.

  2. I believe it is imperative that this report be presented to the Board and they forward it to EPD on or before the 30th. Please call your commissioners! Tell them it cannot wait!
