There will be a Citizen’s Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 7:00PM at Thomas Persons Hall.
A year ago, a citizens town hall meeting was held and well attended. Since that time there have been 2 county employees arrested for theft, a solid waste authority set up without public notice and then rescinded after public outcry, another large property tax increase, more county debt added, and questionable accountability with our money. We think it is time for another Citizens Town Hall Meeting.
Citizens can and do make a difference as was shown by the public involvement with large attendance at meetings protesting regional waste coming into Jasper County. We all need to talk about the upcoming elections in both the City (November 2015) and County (in 2016). We need to talk about 30-50 year agreements that spend our money on questionable projects. We need to talk about combining the City and County, which seems to be mentioned more frequently in circles of influence. We can talk about any subject of interest that relates to Jasper County.
We need to decide what we can do to make changes . We must do something about these issues to relieve the current and future tax burden on all of us.
This Citizen’s Town Hall meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 7:00PM. We will have this meeting to discuss the problems in Jasper County, and to bring out common sense solutions. Your input is needed! This is not a political rally; this is for everyone interested in Jasper County!
The Monticello News has informed us they didn’t have room to put this information in the paper, so Please, let your friends and neighbors know about this meeting and please make plans to attend.
We will be inviting Shane Sealy, the new P&Z director to attend, to tell us his plans for that department. We will also invite the new County Manager, Mike Benton to attend.
This meeting will be held at Thomas Persons Hall (formerly known as the “Civic Center”) across from Rose Bowl field in Monticello. The exact address is 319 College Street, Monticello, Georgia. There is plenty of parking in the back of the building.
Citizens, be informed and stay informed! Only by being informed can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County. That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.
