IS PUTTING OUT AN HONEST BID TOO HARD FOR JASPER COUNTY FIRE DEP’T?

October 10, 2015

E-One Pumper

There are laws that govern bidding and the bid specifications to make sure everyone bidding has a fair chance. The Fire Pumper bid specs don’t seem to have fallen into the “fair” category.

After much controversy and additional information brought out by this blog, the BOC asked their attorney to look over the bid specs and report back.  Their attorney informed them there were problems and the bids had to be thrown out.

Mr. Alexander told the BOC that he found differences between bid specs #2 and #3 that were unauthorized by the BOC. He also said that bid specs must stay the same throughout the process, and he recommended that the BOC not go forward with the bid.

Attorney David Ozburn suggested that they change the purchasing policy to have technical specifications written by an uninterested 3rd party for anything being bid over $100,000.

Of course, “no one is blame”, there is no accountability or responsibility in the process, and the county goes right on, pays to re-advertise again, and everything is great. However, citizens attending knew full well that someone had to change the bid specs, and the BOC and their attorney know it too.

One Response to IS PUTTING OUT AN HONEST BID TOO HARD FOR JASPER COUNTY FIRE DEP’T?

  1. THIS BOC's DIAPERS ARE FULL. TIME FOR A CHANGE. says:

There exists no creature operating under the guise of “uninterested 3rd party”, in particular legal hacks commingling banking, real estate, economic development and county taxpayer interests. As long as there remains a dime in the Jasper County government’s account, there will be parties interested making a career of living off that fund. This is just the nature of the predatory political beast and has been since the institution of government by man.

What this county needs less of is meddling from the unelected Newton County consort and more honest, discerning officials eager and willing to do the job they were elected to do and that means conducting the business of the county in a forthright, and honorable manner.

This BoC has demonstrated time and again by numerous illegal meetings and shady back door deals that their responsibilities to the finance industry and corporate swindlers supersedes any oath they’ve taken to serve the public trust.

This board is by far then most untrustworthy and fiscally irresponsible Jasper County taxpayers have ever had the misfortune to suffer. There remains not a shred of trust to redeem with this board. They all need to go. I hope that in the next election we will see the end of the Trammell administration. It cannot come soon enough.
