PUBLIC HEARING ON ZONING FOR DOLLAR GENERAL STORE
This Thursday evening, 10/29/15 at 7:00pm, the P&Z Board will conduct a public hearing on the rezoning request for a Dollar General Store on Hwy 212 W at Jackson Lake Rd. (See info here )
On Monday evening, 11/2/15 at 6:00PM, the BOC will conduct another public hearing on the same request and then vote to approve or deny the rezoning.
If you are interested or have a comment for or against, you should attend these meetings. Both will be held in the BOC meeting room downstairs in the Courthouse.
LANDFILL FIBER REMOVAL BIDS
On 10/6/15 the bids for the landfill fiber removal were opened. There were 8 bids submitted. Kent McCormick of Triple Point Engineering conducted the meeting and opened and read the bids. They were opened in the order that follows:
#1–AACR–$398,520.00 base bid
#4–C&C Lovejoy—determined that bid didn’t have acknowledgement of addendums #1,2, and 3—bid not accepted
#5–Complete Sitework Services–$824,822.00
#12–Sagar Grading & Pipeline–$528,816.00
The 3 lowest bids were Arcilla Mining, McCoy Grading, and AACR. Unless something changed from the bid opening meeting, these 3 low bids will be presented to the BOC to vote on Monday, 11/2/15, at their meeting.
Two of the bids came in under the $350,000 figure the taxpayers have already been billed for on their property taxes in 2014, so the BOC should already have enough money on hand to have the fiber removed.
The GA-EPD gave the county until 12/31/15 to have the fiber removed; however, it seems this process has been very slow in getting started. If the BOC approves the bids 11/2/15 and the order is given to start work, the company that is awarded the bid has 90 days to complete the project. It appears there will have to be another EPD extension.
Later this week we should be able to obtain the entire agenda for the 11/2/15 BOC meeting and will post it on this blog.
Be informed! Get involved ! See you at the meetings!
