Cora’s Bar & Grill on Hwy 142 near Shiloh Church has had numerous complaints about noise lasting until 2:30-3:00 in the morning ever since it has been in business. Previous owners of “the bar” at that same location have had similar complaints. The entire community is affected.
Here is what the Jasper County code says about noise:
Recently the owner of “the bar” had one of the neighboring residents served with a Temporary Restraining Order because he complained too much about the noise. The court date was this Tuesday, 12/15/15, and the judge dismissed it.
It appears tomorrow night will be another sleepless night for the community near the bar.
The bar is open on Friday and Saturday nights, and the citizens in this area can’t seem to get relief from the noise and music all night long up until 2:30-3:00am. Even though there have been many 911 calls and complaints, no citations have been written. Neighbors and those that can hear the music in their houses over and above the television, complain that the deputies responding either do nothing or say it is a code enforcement problem.
The hours of operation are also laid out in the Jasper County alcohol ordinance, and the bar seems to be operating past the time allowed.
The BOC has heard complaints about this situation as well.
Everyone is entitled to live in peace in their own homes. This community should be able to do so, too.
