DEBRIA MURPHY FAILED AT EMS BILLING—COSTING THE COUNTY $$??

“We do have an EMS Collections issue, ” said Mike Benton.  “Debria was busy ‘running her ambulance’ that she didn’t have time,”  he continued.

This is what the BOC was told by County Manager, Mike Benton, during the financial review at the 1/11/16 meeting.

Folks, whose fault is this?  Comm. Salmon is busy blaming someone else at every meeting for whatever is brought up—the landfill, roads, code enforcement, etc.  This EMS problem lies right at his feet and his colleagues on the BOC because they have allowed it to go on despite complaints.

TWG has repeatedly objected to Debria Murphy working 2 jobs—against the rules in the personnel policy. EMS employees have not been happy that she is being paid $12 an hour plus overtime at $18 an hour—significantly higher than parademics on the job for years (she is an EMT).  And nothing was done about it until November 2015 when Debria “resigned” from EMS billing and now works exclusively on “her ambulance.”

Debria Murphy was not and is not who she claimed to be from the very beginning—remember she was first hired by Karen Degges to be an “auditor” for EMS billing.  All this was a ploy to get rid of a good employee that had done her job for years, and replace that employee with someone Karen Degges and the BOC  wanted.

Past Due

Debria Murphy had billing problems in Putnam County when she worked there with James Gregory —as TWG pointed out in a May 22, 2014 blog.   With Debria Murphy over EMS billing in Putnam County here’s what took place; the Putnam County audit for the year, FYE September 30, 2013, had a page devoted to the problems in the EMS billing—including 74% of all the billing was over 150 days old which amounted to $1,487,477.

According to the financials last night, Jasper County EMS revenue is $35,000 less than the year before after 6 months, and last year was less than the year before as well.  As of 6 months ended 12/31/15, only $151,700 has been collected by EMS.

Has an audit of EMS ever been done?  Comm. Pennamon asked for one last June; TWG has echoed that on 2 separate occasions.  Answer—NOPE!

TWG has questioned other tactics of Debria Murphy as well, but she is still a Jasper County employee, and when something else happens, the BOC will shake their heads and exclaim, “How could we have known?!”

TWG

Citizens, be informed and stay informed!  Only by being informed can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County.  That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.

She is still doing things she isn’t trained to do. She fills in write up sheets and James blindly signs them. Someone needs to wake up over there and get them out of there before you can’t find anyone to work with them!

  2. Steve says:

This is the same stuff James and Debra did in Putnam. Once they left, the Putnam EMS received hundreds of thousands of dollars more in revenue.

  3. Open your eyes says:

When are the commissioner’s gonna open their eyes? Debria was paid extra for a job she could not do. There’s no excuse, especially the reason being she was on the ambulance, because from 8-5 she was doing billing while the taxpayers had to pay an extra person to be on the ambulance until she could get off at courthouse. So that is bull! She was brought to this job under lies and deception along with James so it is time to do unto them as they have done unto others and get rid of them. If you look at her Facebook the time she was supposed to be handling billing she was on Internet. Others have been fired for that. Commissioner’s do us a favor and get all of Karen Degges cronies out of the jobs they were never qualified for. Our county is ready for a complete change and some honest people, you let Karen mistreat and get rid of the ones that were doing their job because they didn’t fit into her agenda.

O.V.E.R.S.I.G.H.T. It is supposed to be priority 1.
