JASPER BOC DOES VERY LITTLE IN PUBLIC MEETINGS
February 17, 2016
Remember last year, the year before, and up until the last 3 or 4 months, when BOC meetings used to have some real county business on the agenda? The meetings would usually last 2 to 3 hours, and the commissioners used to also have enough issues to discuss and hold 2 meetings each month. For the past 3 months the BOC meetings have been little more than appointing people to boards, setting a holiday schedule, and approving check registers for checks that were written and sent out long before the BOC ever approved them.
Two items that this BOC has had on the agenda in the past 3 months that had any substance were holding a hearing on a special use permit for a junkyard and approving taking over $1.3M of JDA debt.
So how does all the county work get done anymore with the BOC meeting only once a month for about 2 hours? We think we might know.
Citizens, be informed and stay informed! Only by being informed can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County. That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.
