Official Statement from Jasper County Schools

The Jasper County School District is aware of the video released by Ms. Perez. Unfortunately, the District is barred by State and Federal law from commenting about the specifics of this incident. The District respects every student’s right to privacy. However, we can speak generally about the District’s code of conduct which allows corporal punishment as one of the consequences for behavior. That code of conduct is provided to all parents. When corporal punishment is used, it is with parental consent. The District is investigating the incident and looking into its discipline policies at this time.

  1. Times are a changing says:

When I was a kid, I knew that if a teacher had to whip me, I would get a double whipping at home. My parents would have been embarrassed and, in their mind, it would have been a reflection of poor parenting. Today, a parent can give consent to have their child disciplined at school, then call the media to get their one minute of fame, and promptly seek out legal council.

My parents had a paddle, affectionately called “the board of education”. When we misbehaved, we knew that an “education” was coming. All of the children got to witness this “education” so that we could learn from each other and not make the same mistakes.

The most important lesson we learned was that of RESPECT. To be respectable meant to respect our parents, our teachers, our elders, each other and each other’s property. There were no free lunches and there was no helping ourselves to other people’s stuff. Disrespect was not tolerated.

A well-deserved pat on the behind taught us lessons that we never forgot and still serve us well today.

As far as I am concerned, I do not believe the principal did anything wrong. It is the parent’s job to discipline their kids, but when they don’t, the school has little choice. This kid is only 5 years old and already hell on wheels.

  2. Get Your Child Out Of Public Education says:

First off, two wrongs never make a right. Since the parent was present, the two administrators should have asked the parent to deliver the punishment and secondly, the school officials should never have allowed themselves to be videotaped in such unprofessional circumstances.
This in no way excuses the actions or lack thereof of the parent, which to put it mildly, does not appear to be much of one.
Public education should be administered as a privilege and not a right. Public schools are not boot camps designed to instill discipline and indoctrination. Chronic discipline problems should be permanently removed from the learning environment. If parents cannot discipline their children at home, they should not be allowed to send them to a publicly funded learning institution where they are able to interfere with the education of others.
Personally I feel that the public school systems, which today are little more than sports venues organized for public entertainment and anti-Christian family values socio-engineering instruction ran by social justice sickos masquerading as educators, are little more than an institutionalized form of severe child abuse. I am constantly amazed that seemingly loving parents would sacrifice their kids to daily torments of physical and mental abuse at the altar of so called Public Education.

Your child deserves better. Get them out of public education.
