JDA CALLS ANOTHER EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR LAND ACQUISTION

Tomorrow (July 19) from 12 noon to 5PM, the members of the JDA along with their attorney, Andrea Gray, and their CPA, Wayne Tamplin, will meet at Magnolia Hall in Social Circle to hold an Executive Session.  This is the second executive session in 3 weeks for JDA to discuss “land acquisition.”

On the agenda is:

JDA ExecSes

Land acquisition can mean buying or selling land.  Anyone that has kept up knows that it would be impossible for JDA to buy land because they have no money and just got the 4 counties to start paying on their $1.3M bank loan and their $5.9M GEFA loan.  That is unless they float more bonds; then of course, they could buy land.

However, it is most likely they will be selling land, but this time it probably won’t be made public until it is a done deal.  No more letting the pesky citizens find out and realize they were going to be taken to the cleaners. Keep your eyes and ears open

JDA has yet to bring us any tax revenue after giving away 10 years of tax incentives, $1.1BILLION in bonds, and $300M of State and local funding and incentives.

By the way, when is it going to be decided by the 5 lawyers that ALL means ALL and Jasper County gets the money collected by Newton County on JDA property?

And whatever happened to that big meeting between all the JDA members, the BOC members of each county, along with the public to “explain and lay out their plans for the future???”

  1. CAVEAT EMPTOR says:

Jasper County taxpayers along with the taxpayers of Newton, Walton and Morgan counties need to have a serious debate over whether we are to continue to allow a secret society of bumbling financiers to continue to use public funds to float risky private ventures from which some have reaped huge rewards while the taxpayers return on investment remains zilch.

It is totally unacceptable that an unaccountable cartel of bankers and their lapdog politicos wield unquestionable authority to secretly entangle the four county taxpayers in one public debt scheme after another, especially when the taxpayers are NEVER allowed prior knowledge nor public input on the shady deals financed before the dirty deeds are done.

The Four County Joint Development Authority and their puppet board of county commissioners are effectively selling we the taxpayers what is commonly known as pig in poke. We get what we get, whether we like it or not.

Have we really become so apathetically stupid as to tolerate this type of fiscal abuse without as much as a whimper or whine in protest?

    Apparently so.

  2. Sam Hay says:

Unquestionably the JDA should be reigned in. THEY SHOULD BE RETURNING MONEY
PAID BY THE TAXPAYERS TO KEEP THEIR SINKING SHIP AFLOAT SINCE DAY ONE. It is
a debt which was promised by the JDA who was also going to bring in all this
new development and tax revenue. Never happen. A handful of jobs and NO NEW
TAXES on the industry who has come here. THE COMMISSIONERS FROM ALL FOUR
COUNTIES need to step up. If the JDA has money to buy other properties, they should pay back the taxpayer debt they owe first!
