DISTRICT 3 –SPECIAL CALLED ELECTION TO FILL GENE TRAMMELL’S BOC SEAT

January 23, 2017

Maybe the special election could be expanded county-wide to allow the people to select their own Clerk of Court.

The Probate Judge has called for a special election to fill the county commissioner vacancy left by the death of Commissioner Gene Trammell.  The election will be held on Tuesday, March 21. A runoff, if needed, will be held April 18.

Qualifying for the election will take place in Jasper County Probate Court beginning February 6 at 9 a.m., and ending at noon, February 9. Qualifying fee is $216.

Voters must be registered by February 21 to vote in this election.  This election will be for District 3 voters only.

J. Ross Hays has expressed his intention to revive his campaign and run again to fill the vacancy. Citizens will have to wait to see who “the powers that be” will convince to run.

Citizens, be informed and stay informed!  Only by being informed, can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County.  That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.

  1. Two Offices One Election says:

Since Jasper County taxpayers will bear the expense of paying for the process of a special election anyway, why not include the office of the Clerk of the Court in with the election of the 3rd District Commissioner too?
What are the scurrilous supporters of Dan Jordan afraid of? Democracy? Are they so much the scheming insecure cowards they will choose Jordan family favoritism over voters’ choice?
Lynda Gasses should step forward and prove she is the honest person of integrity we all believe her to be and demand to be chosen in open election instead of merely appointed by her conniving brother.
