RONNIE FRANKLIN (FORMER JASPER COUNTY PARAMEDIC) FILES FEDERAL LAWSUIT AGAINST JASPER COUNTY BOC

How ironic!  Karen Degges, who now has a suit against Jasper County, fired Ronnie Franklin, long time Jasper County Paramedic, July 31,  2014.  After filing his case with EEOC, Mr. Franklin was recently given the “right to sue.”  In fact, his case was filed about a month before Degges filed her case.

In late December 2016, his case was filed in Federal court – Georgia Middle District Court- in Macon.  The nature of the suit is listed as “Age and Race discrimination.”  Ronnie was the only black person at EMS, and he was also over 50 years old.

Karen Degges was on a tear, firing one employee after another, most of whom had been employees with several years employment with Jasper County.  Ronnie Franklin had 14 1/2 years of service to Jasper County EMS.

See details here:  ANOTHER LONG TIME COUNTY EMPLOYEE FIRED

Great job, Commissioners!  This would have never have happened if you had documented all the egrious acts of Karen Degges and had not allowed her to fire 16 employees—most all for “gross insubordination.”

It will be interesting to see how much these cases in Federal Court—Franklin’s and Degges’—cost Jasper County!

Citizens, be informed and stay informed!  Only by being informed, can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County.  That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.

  1. "Forward" Into The Abyss of Stupid says:

Would it be too much to ask for those responsible for hiring Karen Degges be taken out onto the square and publicly flogged?

Two Federal lawsuits filed against the people of Jasper County announced in one week.
How much more “strategic planning “can the taxpayers of Jasper county take?

It is one thing to take bad advice from legal counsel, but to allow that counsel to continue in the same capacity as before and even profit from his stupendously inept advice is not only insulting and disrespectful to the citizens of Jasper County but cowardly dereliction of duty as well. Where does the buck stop in this county? Who is really in charge?

I guess we will find out soon enough.

  2. Yeah, about that... says:

The problem in this case, as with so many others, is that the county manager, namely Karen Degges, was given free reign. The commissioners should have stopped her long before they fired her. Witch hunt after witch hunt left us with a bunch of folks running departments that they don’t have a background in.

The commission needs to start running the county. The county manager needs to start managing, at the direction of the commission.

  3. Please send all tax dollars to the federal court says:

Poof more tax dollars down the drain. This county government has to be the worst in the state. Talk about a bunch of dim bulbs. It’s going to be tough to defend stupidity.

Now remember that Kathy Mudd, Editor and Chief News Story Deleter, published in her editorial that this was the best BOC that Jasper County had ever had…so it must be true because the story has not been deleted.
