How ironic! Karen Degges, who now has a suit against Jasper County, fired Ronnie Franklin, long time Jasper County Paramedic, July 31, 2014. After filing his case with EEOC, Mr. Franklin was recently given the “right to sue.” In fact, his case was filed about a month before Degges filed her case.
In late December 2016, his case was filed in Federal court – Georgia Middle District Court- in Macon. The nature of the suit is listed as “Age and Race discrimination.” Ronnie was the only black person at EMS, and he was also over 50 years old.
Karen Degges was on a tear, firing one employee after another, most of whom had been employees with several years employment with Jasper County. Ronnie Franklin had 14 1/2 years of service to Jasper County EMS.

Great job, Commissioners! This would have never have happened if you had documented all the egrious acts of Karen Degges and had not allowed her to fire 16 employees—most all for “gross insubordination.”
It will be interesting to see how much these cases in Federal Court—Franklin’s and Degges’—cost Jasper County!
Citizens, be informed and stay informed! Only by being informed, can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County. That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.
