The public hearing will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 7:00PM in the small courtroom upstairs in the courthouse.

Key Family Holdings, LLC, also shown as Key Estate on documents filed with the P&Z office, is asking for a conventional subdivision rather than the required conservation subdivision, which sets aside greenspace for any development this large.  A sale of the property to a developer is contingent upon the rezoning.

Here is an example of a conventional subdivision vs a conservation or open space design subdivision.  The number of lots is the same, but the conservation layout saves greenspace, views, wetlands, etc.

Which plan will it be?  That will be the question before the P&Z board tomorrow night.  Plan to attend if you are concerned or merely interested.  It is our county, and it should be developed the way the citizens that live here want it to be developed.


Citizens, be informed and stay informed!  Only by being informed, can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County.  That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.
