Only by reading the July 2, 2018 minutes would you ever know that the Jasper County BOC and the DAJC have a lease agreement for a piece of land. The lease term is one (1) year with a continuous extension of one (1) year. The lease amount is $1,000 per year.
After reading through the seven (7) pages of the Lease Agreement, it is strange that neither the address nor the location is mentioned in the lease. It is on Exhibit A, which was not provided with the open records request. Why not? Why is it a secret?
The lease agreement does say that the property cannot be sub-leased, but it does not say how or for what purpose the property will be used.
The location of the property to be leased is marked in red on this aerial shot.
This piece of property is across from the Recreation ball fields and just before you enter into the landfill gates.
Again, why is this such a big secret that it was never mentioned and done after the Executive Session, after a long meeting? Why was this deal not reported in the local paper as part of the BOC meeting write-up?

Citizens, be informed and stay informed! Only by being informed, can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County. That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.
