FIGHT FOR THE EAGLES–TAKE ACTION THIS MORNING

October 18, 2018

Today at noon there will be blasting within 880 feet of an eagle’s nest with eggs.

FIGHT FOR THE EAGLES!  CALL THESE PEOPLE THIS MORNING—

According to the Fish & Wildlife Service:
https://www.fws.gov/southeast/our-services/eagle-technical-assistance/

“Oct 1 – May 15 are the general nesting season dates used for guidance in the southeast. Eagles may nest before Oct 1 or after May 15. All technical assistance guidance applies to nesting eagles including adults, eggs or young, whenever they are present for breeding purposes, which may be before Oct 1 or after May 15 each season.”

“Remember your first responsibility is to avoid disturbance and/or impact to eagles and their nests.”

Yes, that applies to you Shane Sealy, John Snow and the rest of the developers, and each and every County Commissioner.

Blasting and Other Loud, Intermittent Noise Including Fireworks  During Breeding Season (Oct 1 – May 15)

To avoid disturbing nesting eagles and their young, it is recommended that you:

  • Avoid blasting and other activities that produce extremely loud noises within 12 mile of active nests or within 1 mile in open areas, unless greater tolerance to the activity (or similar activity) has been demonstrated by the eagles in the nesting area.  If you cannot meet these guidelines visit the permit application page.

Yes, that applies to you Shane Sealy, John Snow and the rest of the developers, and each and every County Commissioner.

One 1/2 mile is 2640 feet, not 880 feet.  (Maybe this is why the first map showed the blasting area as 3000 feet.)

FIGHT FOR THE EAGLES!  CALL  THIS MORNING!

Citizens, be informed and stay informed!  Only by being informed, can the citizens understand what is being done and talked about, and then press our officials to make good decisions for everyone in Jasper County.  That is our goal with the Taxdogs blog.

  1. Incompetent staff says:

    I’ve called everyone
Left two detailed messages and got disconnected on one.

I can’t get bats out of attic between March and August. The Eagle deserves the same respect!
At least she isn’t damaging anything!
