I have lived in Jasper County 3 years and finally am getting the TWG articles. My first question is–If this Stanton whatever JDA land is not in Jasper County-why is Jasper County paying 10% of the bond and do they really get 10% of the tax revenue? I am guessing that revenue goes to wherever the BOC wants it to go regardless of where it needs to go. Just a first timer observation and learning how it all works.

This is a long story, but suffice it to say that Jasper County has never received a dime from JDA. Neither have any of the other counties. We are still paying JDA and the big original bond.

Jasper County got into this because tax credits used to be important when JDA started. Jasper County has a better Tier rating for employers to get more tax credits if they brought jobs. Nowadays none of that matters because all these businesses get millions and hundreds of millions in tax credits.

If BOC did their job and controlled what going in the county, maybe they won’t have law suits

  3. Bilpil says:

Does the Board of Education pay for an ambulance to stand by at football games?

    • Randolph says:

Bilpil: No one pays for ambulances to be at any school sporting event. It’s my understanding that it’s done as a courtesy to have them present if needed. Additionally, there being there depends on if they are busy handling 911 calls already or not. It’s free of charge. But the schools should call and make arrangements prior to the date of the event.
