The first time anyone mentioned seeing this survey in Jasper County was yesterday, and it was forwarded to TWG. There are only 2 days left to voice your opinion. Don’t hesitate to add your comments! Click the quick link here of the Northeast Georgia Regional Transit Development Plan (TDP) public survey:

Obviously this survey has been around for a couple of months but nobody has seen it and nobody in and Jasper County has mentioned it. We have to wonder if the commissioners know about it and never mentioned it.

Anyone attending recent meetings learned how disingenuous that NEGRC was during the comprehensive plan meetings. No matter how much the facilitator was told that we didn’t want affordable housing and apartments, he continued to push it throughout the several meetings because that is the government plan. Finally when one of our commissioners told him we didn’t have the infrastructure for that, he backed off somewhat, but the final plan still had several of the issues that were discussed and that the majority of the people did not want.

Here we are now with a regional transportation plan where they’re trying to have counties have these little buses that carry people around at taxpayers’ expense.

WHO thought up these “visions and goals” if it wasn’t some taxpayer paid government employees with an agenda that they are pushing?

Vision Statement: The Northeast Georgia Region will facilitate safe, accessible, and sustainable transit services to all residents of the 12-county region through service additions and amendments facilitated by creative and efficiency-building partnerships. Transit service will enhance a strong regional economy and high quality of life for community members by providing access to health facilities, basic shopping needs, and employment.

Goals

Goal 1: Create equitable transit access throughout the region by enabling access to daily needs and employment opportunities by all Northeast Georgia residents.

Goal 2: Promote regional cooperation and resource-sharing to enable efficiency.

Goal 3: Facilitate local and regional transit connections to major employment centers and major employers throughout the region.

Goal 4: Create a sustainable region-wide transit network.

Goal 5: Develop cross-jurisdiction solutions to provide access to well-traveled destinations inside and outside the Northeast Georgia Region.

Please take this survey and go ahead and send it in because the public hearing part, which was not publicized, is through March 31 (Easter Sunday) so hopefully through Monday April 1.

With these regional plans all local control of what the local people want as well as how much money will be spent is given up and put in the hands of “the region” bureaucrats.  A lot of our local money goes to other larger counties to help fund these things.

This is just another step in the un-elected regional appointed bureaucracy deciding what is best for the peons and what the government says they need.
